Our first orange wine at Plonk HQ. Orange wine is essentially made with white grapes, but using the method one takes to make a red, i.e. leaving the skin and juice in contact, rather than separating them straight away as you would with a white wine.
This brings out the orange colour, but also extracts more flavour, as there is flavour in the skins of grapes, along with some tannin = grip. A great wine to have with food, as these intriguing qualities soften and develop.
The domaine of Les Pierres d'Aurèle built a strong reputation in the 19th century and has been completely modernised and refreshed since 2010. The winemakers have adopted environmentally friendly practices, strongly believing that focused on the quality of the wines they produce stems from healthy vines.
