This is a hefty one - dense fruit, grippy tannins, definitely one to share with friends around a big old bit of meat from the BBQ.
The Château Montana vineyards are nestled between the sea and the mountains, on sunny terraces. Growing grapes in this heat is no mean feat. It takes a lot of work and dedication to ensure they don't overripen (losing their acidity and becoming way too boozy), but the Jonquères d'Oriola family do a stellar job at producing wines of great precision and tension, with that characteristic southern French warmth to them still.
